Where the name comes from

"Jess Dreaming" is definitely a reflection of my personality. For as long as I can remember I've been a dreamer. Laying in the grass, watching the clouds, kinda person. I try to see the good in everything and everyone. I'm messy and loud and I love big. I would rather be outside, always. Music and nature light up my soul. I am fiercely protective of the people I love and will not put up with mistreatment. Different cultures and backgrounds intrigue me and I always want to learn more about them. I love ALL people. I want to know what makes a person tick. I also want to know their pain. I believe in sharing these things openly.

I want to live for today, in this moment, but I'm also always dreaming of what I can do and where I can go next. Now, I get to do it with a camera by my side.

From Humble

Beginnings.

I was raised by a single mother and our life was far from easy. I spiraled down a long journey of discovery, let's say. A nice way to put it. It took a lot of time, a lot of work, and self reflection to find my way out. To find my light. But, "if there is no struggle, there is no progress."(Frederick Douglas) One of my favorite quotes ever. It is all those things, those struggles and experiences, that shape us into who we become. So instead of looking back with regret and resentment, today, I choose to use the past as a tool and look forward to continuing to build a better future for myself and my children. I intend on enjoying this life with them and giving them everything they deserve.

My biggest take away from my early life is the importance of family. I celebrate them in ALL forms. I believe that is why I specialize, specifically, in Family Photography.

Creating Powerful Imagery

When I look at a photograph, I really want to feel something. My main goal in all of this is to capture authenticity no matter what kind of session it is. No fake smiles allowed! We will get the photo of everyone looking into the camera because we do all enjoy those. But it will be at a moment when everyone is feeling comfortable and "warmed up." Mostly, what I do is capture interactions. I want you to laugh, kiss, snuggle and have fun! I will not actually pose you only guide you. Don't worry about your children looking at the camera and smiling or whether or not they’re going to sit still. I will run around with them!

Let go of perfection and that is exactly when we will capture the magic. I want you to look back on your photos one day and instantly feel what you felt that day or that time in your life. After all, that is the purpose of saving memories in a photograph, right? To remember. It is such a powerful thing that we take for granted.
